With a looming doom surrounding the city of Tokyo, in Collar X Malice you question what justice really is. Even though this is a dating simulator, the story focuses on more disturbing topics such as how the justice system could fail people and how people take law into their own hands. If you look out for LGBTQ video games, there’s a decent chance you’ve heard of this one. Monster Prom can be played with up to four people, making it a great game for couples, friends, double dates, and polycules.
Boyfriend Dungeon asks and answers that important question, giving you a chance to run through dungeons with a selection of weapons and date those weapons outside of the dungeon. You can also choose to pie off dating anyone and just hang out with a cool cat, which is a very solid option if you ask me. Boyfriend Dungeon is delightful, a great new take on the dating sim.

There is quite a bit of debate online on whether this game is a dating sim or not. There is some relationship maintaining in the campaign, but it’s still a solid RPG experience where you’re going through dungeons, battling enemies, and trying to solve a mystery. If you have already played Persona 5, this might be a title worth checking out until we get the next mainline installment release. Dating sims are to the world of video games what romance novels are to the world of literature.

This Korean dating sim essentially models a popular messaging app like WhatsApp or Line. You mysteriously fall into a chatroom with a bunch of handsome dudes. The story plays out in chat, and as you grow closer to individual characters you’ll begin to receive texts and phone calls from them. It’s a really neat new spin on the genre, and it’s quite well-written, too. This is a fairy tale visual novel where you are the heroine that romances the gender-swapped version of female fairy tale protagonists.
Halloween and the final exam are in seven days and therefore players have this long to improve their character skills as well as fall in love. In this free-to-play Halloween-rising story the base game provides four love interests of a variety of genders alongside unlocking as many spells and scenes as possible before it’s too late. Anyway, I decided I wanted to keep the three of them together so I cheated to give both parts of the married couple the Player trait so that nobody would get jealous (traits.equip_trait trait_Player).

Cheritz, the same publisher behind Mystic Messenger released this feline good slice of life visual novel. After Heejung Kim moves into her new apartment, she discovers a basket of bunnies and cats, and soon she finds out that said animals turn into bunny boys and cat boys. While the game appears silly, this is a sincere game about the fears of growing up and choosing to be on your path to authenticity.
